So I've decided to become vegan.  I'm going to finish the food I currently have in my room because I can't afford to replace all of it, but after this I want to avoid food that isn't vegan.  Prior to this I wasn't even a vegetarian, although both of my sisters are, but a video I watched in my ethics class today has changed my mind.  I was just wondering what types of things I should watch out for on ingredient lists.  For example, I have a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch sitting in front of me, but I'm not sure whether or not it counts as vegan (although I know it's not healthy).  The only thing I would question is "calcium carbonate" but I'm not sure if that's correct or not.

Also I'm a poor college student.  I eat a lot in the school cafeteria, where there aren't very many options (although I'd already started using soy milk instead of cow milk there, although I still bought cow milk because it was what was sold at my school cafe).  What types of foods are easy to make (I have a kitchen on my floor, but nothing to cook with other than a cookie sheet, but I do have a microwave in my room).  I'm also in a small town (it's called Farmville if that's any indication of how small it is) so there aren't any health food stores near me.  I mostly grocery shop at Walmart.  What types of healthy foods can I find there?
